Pitt Meadows Climate Action Strategy Public Survey
Residents, businesses and communities in the City of Pitt Meadows are increasingly exposed to natural hazard events such as wildfires, flooding, landslides, debris flow, heavy rainfall, drought and extreme heat. Climate change, which has been proven to be driven by human activities, is making these natural hazards worse, causing these events to happen more frequently and with more intensity. These events have caused damage to properties, infrastructure (e.g., bridges and roads), and crops, as well as impacted the physical and mental health of residents.
In response, the City of Pitt Meadows is developing a Climate Action Strategy to better understand the potential risks of natural hazards and extreme weather events and to help residents and businesses to plan and prepare. The strategy will identify ways to strategically reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, improve resilience to future climate hazards, and identify the steps and resources needed to bring these measures to life. The strategy will be a guide for Pitt Meadows to build a resilient and sustainable future for our community.
Creating a meaningful and effective strategy depends on your input. By completing this survey, you will enable the City to better understand your experiences and values as they relate to both the risks of climate hazards and extreme weather events, and what can or should be done to help people and communities in Pitt Meadows better prepare for the future.
