We are developing a Climate Action Strategy as a guide for Pitt Meadows to build a resilient and sustainable future for our community.

The strategy will focus on achieving two primary goals:

  1. Climate Adaptation: Preparing our community and infrastructure for climate impacts
  2. Climate Mitigation: Reducing pollution sources (greenhouse gas emissions)

What Will the Strategy Include?

We will be identifying a number of climate actions across many areas, including:

  • Buildings and energy
  • Infrastructure
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Emergency management
  • Water and waste
  • Transportation and mobility
  • Local economy and agriculture

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

Residents, businesses and communities in the City of Pitt Meadows are increasingly exposed to natural hazard events such as wildfires, flooding, landslides, debris flow, heavy rainfall, drought and extreme heat. Climate change, which has been proven to be driven by human activities, is making these natural hazards worse, causing these events to happen more frequently and with more intensity. These events have caused damage to properties, infrastructure (e.g., bridges and roads), and crops, as well as impacted the physical and mental health of residents.

In response, the City of Pitt Meadows is developing a Climate Action Strategy to better understand the potential risks of natural hazards and extreme weather events and to help residents and businesses to plan and prepare. The strategy will identify ways to strategically reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, improve resilience to future climate hazards, and identify the steps and resources needed to bring these measures to life. The strategy will be a guide for Pitt Meadows to build a resilient and sustainable future for our community.

Creating a meaningful and effective strategy depends on your input. By completing this survey, you will enable the City to better understand your experiences and values as they relate to both the risks of climate hazards and extreme weather events, and what can or should be done to help people and communities in Pitt Meadows better prepare for the future.

Complete this survey to help enhance resiliency in your city.

This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your response is anonymous and voluntary. Responses will be used to inform the development of the City’s Climate Action Strategy.

Survey closes at 11:59 pm PST on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

We are committed to hearing from as many Pitt Meadows community members as possible, including all residents, interested parties and q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation. Your diverse perspectives will help shape our City’s sustainable future.

If you are unable to complete the survey online, please visit Pitt Meadows City Hall to pick up a hard copy of the survey.
